BlackBerry, as we all know is a brand symbol for innovation. People who use BlackBerry carry an attitude and love to show their high end smart phone with proud. BlackBerry has lots many breeds in the market, giving high completion to many of the smart phones in various price bands. Well in this post, we not gonna discuss about the competition of brand to the other brand. Instead, we would like to showcase; where the child’s from the same parents stands. We will talk about the comparison between BlackBerry 9860 vs BlackBerry 9800.
Form:
In terms of built, the BB9860 is packed in the frame sized 120 x 62 x 11.5mm weighing 135g compared to BlackBerry Torch 9800 who measurements is 111 x 62 x 14.6mm weighing 161g.
Both the devices are quite impressive and different from the traditional BlackBerry look. BB9860 has very curved profile which gives futuristic look with thin body.
BB 9800 on the other hand has a slide-out QWERTY keyboard compared to the touch screen interaction of 9860. Both the devices are quite attractive and have distinct features according to user preferences.
We can call this round as a draw, as both the handsets do not left any point to be a loser in any aspect.
Display:
In terms of display, BlackBerry Torch 9800 is equipped with touch screen display offering the resolution of 360 x 480 pixels. The device also support multi touch input along with keyboard input as an additional benefit to users. Pixel density is 188 ppi compared to 253 ppi of BB 9860 along with the resolution of 480 x 800 pixels.
BlackBerry Torch 9860 offers LCD TFT with capacitive touch display on the 3.7 inches screen. The display also incorporates the RIM Liquid graphics which provides much more responsiveness. BB 9860 is also equipped with optical track pad and multi touch input along with accelerometer which allows user friendly interaction on the handset.
The high resolution, pixel density and lucrative features can win anyone’s heart and this makes BlackBerry Torch 9860 as the winner in this category.
Processor:
In terms of processing power, the Torch 9800 is powered by 624MHz Marvell PXA940 processor. Although the processing power seems to be less, but the device has been well optimized to offer complete functionality of BB OS and multi tasking.
On the other hand, Torch 9860 is getting power from 1GHz Qualcomm Scorpion MSM8655 processor, which provides better torque to derive the handset. No doubts, BlackBerry Torch 9860 is the winner with better processing power.
Operating System:
In the category of operating system also, Torch 9860 is a head of Torch 9800 with OS 7.0 compared to OS 6.0 installed in Torch 9800.
BB OS 6.0 is pretty good in terms of capabilities and it optimizes the system quite well to offer the multi tasking and smooth performance. But Version 7.0 is of course more efficient and competent in terms of enhanced features. It provided better support to multi tasking, voice search function, capturing of HD videos, better accessibility and speed.
Although it is quite hard to figure out the minute difference between both the versions, but we must accept that BB 7.0 is a head of 6.0.
Camera:
Camera quality of both the handsets seems to be equal with 5 MP main Camera having the ability to capture stills at 2592х1944 pixels. They even stands on the same strands in terms of features like auto focus, LDF flash, face detection, image stabilization and geo tagging.
The point which brings difference here is the video recording quality, 9800 records the video at VGA quality compared to HD quality recording of 9860.
Winner – BlackBerry Torch 9860
Storage:
In terms of storage also, Torch 9860 is ahead of 9800 with 4 GB of internal memory and option of extending memory up to 32 GB via MicroSD. Device also has 786 MB ROM and RAM to support processor.
Compared to his, 9800 offers same storage support except the RAM and ROM which is 512 MB.
Final Thoughts:
Torch 9800 is a fabulous device with immense capabilities, although Torch 9860 has better and enhanced features with excellent capabilities and which makes it a better high end devices compared to Torch 9800.
