Aditya Birla Group cellular company Idea has overtake BSNL to become the third largest GSM operator in the country behind Airtel and Vodafone Essar according to Cellular Operators Association of India based on the November figures. Idea Cellular added 2.5 million new subscribers in November to take its total subscribers to 55.9 million (55,905,178) compared to 55.1 million (55,186,987) of BSNL.IDEA showed an increased growth rate at 4.78% along with Aircel which grew at 5.79%.Idea company mobile has been slowing down over the past year due to poor capacity and marketing. Overall GSM mobile operators added 11 million subscribers in November, taking the total subscribers figures to 366 million. Bharti Airtel was still number one as it added close to 2.8 million subscribers, Vodafone added 2.78 million in November and Tata Teleservices is yet to announce its numbers for the month. Airtel had loosed their subscribers due to Vodafone and Tata Teleservices in October. But in terms of total number of subscriber additions and reached over 116 million total subscribers even though that adds up to a growth rate of 2.47%.The mid-ranked, B Circle States including Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan have reported the highest growth rate, with over 5 per cent growth over the previous month, except for Jammu and Kashmir, where a recent ban on prepay phones resulted in drop in mobile phone users.
